March 2026 Bargaining Update

Posted in General

The CUPE 3911 Bargaining Committee has declared an impasse in the Collective Agreement negotiations with Athabasca University, and are now  headed to informal mediation in an effort to get talks back on track.

At the heart of the disagreement is the below-par offer that AU has made to CUPE 3911.

By comparison, AU settled with both AUPE (AU professionals) and AUFA (AU faculty) on pay raises at the level of the Provincial mandate of 12% (3% each year for four years), PLUS new extended benefits of different types. The President and Provost of the University were each granted a 20% raise.

But CUPE 3911 members have been offered only the Provincially mandate of 12% without any additional benefits or increases of any type.

A Town Hall meeting was held on March 2, 2026, to discuss these matters. More updates to follow.
