CUPE 3911 has signed on to the Stop the PSE Cuts campaign which is organized by Public Interest Alberta. We are joining AUFA and other faculty associations, as well as unions such as AUPE and student associations across the province. For more information and actions you can take: go to https://stoppsecuts.ca/
This is a media and action campaign which will see advertisements and events around Alberta to raise awareness and protest the ongoing attack on the post-secondary sector. Cuts from our provincial government have cost thousands of jobs and adversely affected the learning conditions for students. Millions have been cut from our sector’s operating budget which will mean greater pressure on staff and skyrocketing tuition in Alberta. As the part time instructors, tutors and academic experts at AU — the front line educators — we emphasize that our working conditions are student learning conditions.
AUFA has shared the following information: Brendan Bruce, the Executive Director of CAFA, the provincial body for university faculty associations, has written the following post for our blog for an overview of the campaign. The campaign is also sharing a survey they are asking all faculty, staff, and students to take. Please take a moment to check out the campaign, and take the survey.
